PPKUKM Agency Intensifies Food and Beverage Integrated Supervision

Jakarta Industry, Trade, Cooperative, Small and Medium Enterprise (PPKUKM) Agency intensifies food and beverage products supervision during Ramadan.

Agency Head, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo, said the activity is based on Trade Minister Regulation No 7/2022 about Distribution and Control of Hazardous Materials, as well as responding letter from the Director General of Consumer Protection and Business Order (PKTN) of the Indonesian Ministry of Trade Number MR.03.03/75/PKTN/SD/02/2024 dated February29, 2024, regarding the implementation of Legal Metrology Supervision ahead of the National Religious Holidays (HBKN).

"We routinely carry out integrated supervision of food and beverage products on weekdays and ahead of National Religious Holidays (HKBN). This activity will continue to be carried out targeting many locations in Jakarta, including shopping centers, loksem and lokbin during Ramadan and ahead of Eid al-Fitr. This is a joint commitment to provide protection for consumers, namely the residents of Jakarta," she said, Thursday (3/21).

According to her, the supervision is focused on food and beverage products including parcels/gifts; marketing authorization; validity period (expiry); packaging condition; labeling (SNI) and measuring, weighing and equipment (UTTP).

As reported earlier, Industry, Trade, Cooperative, Small Medium Enterprise (PPKUKM) Agency together with Drug and Food Monitoring Agency (BPOM), Wednesday (3/20), supervised food products at supermarket in ITC Roxy Mas, Gambir, Central Jakarta.

Based on the results of laboratory tests on a number of product samples at the location, no food and beverage products were found to contain dangerous ingredients.

However, there were 225 food and beverage products that did not meet label requirements (TMK), 93 products without distribution permits (TIE) and two products were damaged.
